What is the primary technical component of modern cryptographic systems that is likely to be susceptible to quantum attacks?

Prime factorization algorithms and elliptic curve cryptography are believed to be vulnerable to future quantum computing–driven attacks against cryptographic systems. Although this is largely theoretical at the moment, quantum encryption may be the only reasonable response to quantum attacks against current cryptographic algorithms and systems.
