The history and interview is where a new client encounter (assessment) begins. Note: when asked questions about the order of an evaluation, the correct answer on most tests begins with history and interview. But in reality, an assessment begins with observation. You have an opportunity to see how they walk, stand, move and sit, from the moment they walk through your door. The parts of an assessment overlap a lot. For example, a practitioner will be observing the whole time, and will also be verbally interacting throughout the assessment and treatments. But there is a logical order of assessment, which begins with talking with a client, building rapport and discovering their chief concerns. Then progressing to the visual assessment, and then physical assessment.
