Question:
Cochlear implants, pacemakers, nerve stimulators, and artificial heart valves are all contraindicated for MRI procedures and must be reported to the technician or radiologist in charge. Most MRIs do not require the patient to be NPO, but if the MRI uses contrast, some facilities prefer the patient to not eat in the 2 hours prior. A hemoglobin of 11.8, while slightly low, is not relevant to the MRI procedure and would not require action. A broken leg is not contraindicated to the MRI procedure.
