.Threshold braking should bring you to a reasonably quick controlled stop in your own lane, even in slippery conditions. 1) Brake as hard as you can without locking up or skidding the wheels. 2) Press down on the brake pedal, trying to get as much braking power as possible. 3) Then, if you feel any of the wheels locking up, release the brake pressure slightly and re-apply. Don't pump the brakes. Continue braking this way until you have brought the vehicle to a complete stop.
