Question:
Liver failure can result from acetaminophen when taken at higher than recommended doses or used in combination with alcohol. Patients should take no more than 4,000 mg per day; recommended doses may be lower for several patient groups (e.g., older adults, patients with pre-existing liver problems). Aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxen are more likely to result in kidney damage than liver damage.
