Question:
Clients who receive their antipsychotic medications via injection are more likely to continue their medications than those who take them orally. Since injectable medications are usually only needed once or twice per month, it may be easier to remember these appointments than taking pills several times a day. This consistency in medication compliance may result in fewer hospitalizations and few symptom relapses. Those on injectable medications are also less likely to overdose or use their medications for suicide. The cost of the medications is not a therapeutic consideration.
