The CFA Institute Code of Ethics most likely requires members and candidates to:

A act with competence, integrity, and in ethical manner when dealing with the public, clients, employers, employees, and other market participants.

The first requirement of the Code of Ethics is that members and candidates “act with integrity, competence, diligence, respect, and in an ethical manner with the public, clients, prospective clients, employers, employees, colleagues in the investment profession, and other participants in the global capital markets.*’ Knowing the applicable laws and regulations is required by Standard 1(A) Knowledge of the Law. Standard VII(A) Conduct as Participants in CFA Institute Programs requires members and candidates not to compromise the integrity of CFA Institute.
